Designed by skilled artisans using vitreous enamel (glass) fused to copper, this Handcrafted Enamel Glass and Copper Cardinal Wall Sculpture will remain bright and colorful for a lifetime of enjoyment. The handcrafted cardinal couple wall sculpture makes a great decoration for any room in your home. The bright red Cardinal rests with his mate on a blooming dogwood branch. When making this cardinal on dogwood branch wall art, Bovano artists start with a single sheet of copper. From this sheet, the shape is cut. The cardinal design is then forged and shaped to add dimension. A frame is made, which is used to support and arrange the sculpture. In an extremely delicate process, the highly-skilled enamelers powdercoat each sculpture with powdered glass, adding layer upon layer of beautiful color. The placement of the individual grains of powdered glass adds to the uniqueness of each piece they create. Once the sculpture has been dusted with the powdered glass, it’s carefully transferred to the kiln which heats the sculpture to an overwhelming 1600 degrees, fusing the glass to the copper and enhancing the brilliancy of the colors. Several firings may be necessary to complete each piece. Finally, the sculpture is affixed to the frame completing this one-of-a-kind wall decor. Handcrafted in the USA. Indoor use only.
